Over the weekend, Casa foiled a sophisticated social engineering attempt against one of our clients. Saved the client over $1.5M in BTC. This attempt was very believable and would have been successful against any exchange account, single sig wallet, and likely other multisig wallets. Our success came down to a single product design decision that is not obvious, and is not just a simple "use multisig." We are working with the client to get all the details of what the scammer did, and we will hopefully be able to publish a full report soon (with the client's permission). We also learned some things from the scammer's tactics that will help us harden our product even more as part of the constant cat and mouse game that is cybersecurity. The Casa team and product handled the threat properly and had a great outcome. Sophisticated social engineering is very hard to combat, because scammers can often convince victims to do just about anything. Very proud!
