"So we took a step back and said, what do we actually want if we’re building a blockchain? People have said for years that the thing that's important is decentralization. We think that what you want is what decentralization gets you, which is censorship resistance and verifiability. And so we went with a rollup-focused architecture because rollups let you have some of the best things about decentralization. You can get censorship resistance and you can get verifiability. But then [you] also [get] some of the best pieces of centralization where you can have some weakly trusted server that sits between you and the rollup. Then you don't have to download hundreds of gigabytes of random full-node data to interact with the thing. And you can get real Web2-like latencies." @prestonevans__
