Permissioned enterprise chains were tried and failed years ago.
Why? Because nobody trusted the central controller of those chains enough to set up shop on those chains. We've seen the deplatforming story over and over for decades.
There might be ways to make some of these work, but that would involve achieving credible neutrality and rigorous decentralization. Doesn't seem like that will be the plan, or even achievable, for most of the corporate L1s projects.

This is the most bullish thing for Ethereum.
The recent wave of big fintechs (Stripe, Circle) launching their own L1s isn’t a sign that the L2 thesis is dead. It’s the clearest signal yet that the world is splitting into two camps:
Infinite censorship resistance /or/ Zero censorship resistance.
And in that split, Ethereum owns one of the poles.
People imagine censorship resistance as a sliding scale, where you can park yourself somewhere in the middle and get “just enough” decentralization. But in practice, the middle collapses. The moment a chain can censor at all, it becomes impossible to distinguish between “some censorship” and “total censorship.” Users, regulators, and counterparties treat it as fully centralized.
That collapse forces builders to choose. If you need your system to be unstoppable, you choose the infinite censorship-resistant option: Ethereum and its rollups. If you don’t, you might as well go fully permissioned, because the regulatory, operational, and commercial advantages of centralization only pay off when you stop pretending to be decentralized.
This is why the middle (Aptos, Sui, Avalanche) will be squeezed to zero. They’ll try to buy relevance with incentives and partnerships, but they’re competing in a no-man’s-land where neither the censorship-resistant camp nor the permissioned camp takes them seriously. History is littered with these failed hybrids — the AOLs of the open internet, the proprietary “almost Unix” systems of the 80s, the closed “sort-of open” software ecosystems that vanished when real open source and fully closed platforms took the market.
The bifurcation is already here.

The stable end game for stablecoins will be systems like Maker/Sky with overcollateralized CDPs. These systems will have broad token ownership and permissionless usage.
But we need a huge amount more decentralized economic bandwidth in the form of ETH and BTC at much much higher prices.
We are working on the latter. Then we will work on the former.

Nailed it, @0xWhizMiz. The Linea Ecosystem will soon be firing big and hard on all cylinders, including cylinders that can't easily be replicated by other L2s.
That said, it is our hope and intention that Linea, in concert with a constellation of Consensys-related projects -- yes, including SBET -- will raise all boats in the global Ethereum armada.
This is part of the new ethos. As decentralization accelerates, we are entering a new economic age on Planet Earth: The Age of Community and Collaboration.
We are delighted to see projects throughout the Ethereum ecosystem do well, including other L2s, provided they demonstrate healthy Ethereum alignment. We need a huge amount of blockspace with diverse characteristics in order to move traditional economy and Web2 projects to Web3 rails.

++ MetaDEX @etherexfi is truly a whale magnet, It's going to attract a lot of whales who are tired of the Lockups and extraction. Etherex solves this problem with x(3,3) tech. REX33 is coming and the TVL is already > $100M.
Big picture?
Founder @ethereumJoseph (also chairman of @SharpLinkGaming / $SBET) is already in multi-billion ETH buys and will raise another 5 billion to buy more ETH. They and probably other ETH Treasury companies will bridge their ETH to Linea. BINGO
No other L2s have this combo rn and even if some decided to copy Linea, great Ethereum wins. @DeclanFox14 said that btw.
Linea was built to make that happen, The ideal Ethereum L2.
This isn’t just bullish for Linea.
It’s bullish for ETH itself.

My MetaMask keeps changing with all these updates, new features, new fox personality, MM logo and hot new font.
Linea didn't just announce its TGE, it totally changed the L2 game.
My new frens at SBET just keep snarfling up millions of USD and using the capital to vacuum up giant piles of ETH. Every. Single. Day. (almost).
Ethereum is now recognized as a new kind of software: Trustware. There's a new kind of (virtual) commodity gaining definition: trust. And ETH is the gold standard in decentralized trust.
Many major financial institutions are HEAVILY embracing Ethereum. More to come on this.

Today, our community celebrated Ethereum's 10th anniversary by ringing the closing bell at NASDAQ. The symbolism of this is profound: the closing of Ethereum's first chapter, and the opening of the next. After ten years, the inflection point has arrived, and mass adoption is upon us. Wall Street was just a river away from the industrial Brooklyn loft where Consensys was founded over 10 years ago, but at the time it felt like an ocean. But I can't say I didn't see this moment coming: the technology, and its promise, is irresistible. We worked to seed a new ecosystem and onboard TradFi to DeFi, with a mission to rebuild the global financial system. And together, we're doing it.
