Tomorrow, Wed. 20, @m_maggiori and I will review the state of Geoeconomics at the Lunchtime Session of the 2025 World Congress of the Econometric Society 👉 I’ve had a sneak preview of @m_maggiori’s slides, and they are fantastic. This promises to be a great and informative session on one of the hottest topics in economics today. 📑 My own slides are here: The full deck is 80 pages, but I’ve selected <40 for tomorrow because of time constraints. I posted an earlier version when I lectured at Oxford, but I’m re-posting it now because: 1️⃣ Tomorrow, I’ll refer the audience to them if they want to dive deeper. 2️⃣ I’ve added new results and many references. 3️⃣ More pragmatically, I’ve gained many followers in recent weeks who may have missed the earlier post. 💡 The punchline: We are now in a very different world than just 10 years ago, and economics has much more to teach us. Our tools, from understanding incentives to stochastic dynamics, help us analyze what is happening and suggest ways to improve the global good.
