In 2021, we launched an investigation into the Saratoga Springs police department after reports of protesters' constitutional rights being violated. Today, we reached an agreement with Saratoga Springs to enact landmark reforms to protect New Yorkers' right to free speech.

We found that Saratoga Springs repeatedly violated the right to speak out, organize, and safely protest.  These reforms, including an overhaul to internal affairs and police response practices, will help rebuild community trust and ensure all can safely express their beliefs.
