People are better at specific tasks than others. Some people are better behaved and even more moral than others. We all have strengths and weaknesses and some even have more strengths than others, for they were given 10 talents and others only 1. But all of us are beloved of God, our Eternal Father. We are precious to him, and all are alike in his sight. And we all fall short of perfection, and cannot be redeemed on our own merits. So no, none of us are better than the others, in that contemptuous way that says "My life is worth more than yours." That is an attitude that is enjoined by Christ's gospel, for we are commanded to love our fellow man as ourselves, and that includes everyone. Not to lord over them, not to cruelly mock them for what strengths they lack, but we also are never instructed to forget or overlook differences, either. God knows each of us personally, for he created us, and he sat with us and spoke to us, and counseled with us about what challenges we would face here in this very temporary mortal existence. He desires all of us to return to him, and find eternal joy. This is what is meant by "all men are created equal," not that all humans are identical in capacities and interests, but that before God we are all equal, and so before the law, we should also be equal. Recognizing that all of us are equal in God's sight, and none of us are more or less precious to him, does not make me anything of any political persuasion. It descends from my convictions as a disciple of Christ.

That’s because their money is invested in wealth producing opportunities that hire other people and pay them wages, enabling them to work and produce more wealth, raise their kids and teach them skills to better themselves, improve their city and region and in general do better than Smaug allows.
